Fathers Day

Father's day is about the same as Mother's day but instead of me changing all the diapers T changes all the diapers. You won't hear me complain about that at all, in fact we could use some more days were I don't have to change any diapers. We skipped church, using new baby Jonas as my excuse (how long can I use the new baby to skip church? he got me out of two weeks from work). We spent the afternoon at T's parents and then the evening at my parents. Lots of good food and crazy kids. I think that b drank a mt. dew this morning 'cause she was on one all day! Supper hyper and supper crazy!

This post is really about my garden. I finally took some pics. Strawberries are nearly impossible to grow! I planted a bunch last year, I think that I planted them a little to late in the season and their roots hadn't had time to establish when the heat hit, they didn't make it through July. This year I was able to plant them much earlier and the weather has stayed much cooler and that has made all the difference. What hasn't helped is poor soil and earwigs or whatever it is eating every reddening strawberry before I can get to it. So I have dumped fertilizers and bug dust on my strawberry patch, we'll see what happens. I converted a dying miniature rose bush garden into my strawberry patch, thats why there are roses on the ends of my strawberry patch.

I planted all sorts of tomatoes, lots of grape and cherry tomatoes, thats what the kids love. They are looking a little undernourished, so I added a box of fertilizer on them and hopefully we'll be eating tomatoes by the Fourth. I also have bell peppers, one hot pepper, zucchinis and cucumbers.

I have oregano growing out of my ears. I planted a verity of herbs last year that did so so, this year the oregano just took off like a bandit! If anyone wants fresh oregano just let me know. I froze a bushel, dried a bushel and I'm going to freeze more with olive oil and lemon juice in ice trays. This picture is after I harvested most of my oregano.

Now I have to get ready to can tomatoes so I have them all year and not just in the summer and I won't have to worry about salmonella.

Everyone was Kung-fu fighting!

It's been just over a week and we are still adjusting to the new little addition. We have all had colds for two or three weeks now that just don't want to go away. I would love to know how a two year old can produce so much snot? Where does it come from? There is no end to the supply of snot that comes out of his nose. If we could turn that into something marketable we would be loaded.

The kids have had some considerable dad time who bored them to death visiting his work but made up for that by buying them cups of flavored ice.

They loved Kung-fu panda(so did I), Cody is more excited when he sees the commercials now then he was at the movie. He feel asleep on the way to the movie and I carried him into the theater sleeping, he woke right up when we walked into the movie room and the previews were on. We haven't taken him to a movie for a while because the last time he didn't do so good, this time he just sat on my lap, glued to the screen. B is always glued to the movie screen and is golden with a bag of popcorn. She loves popcorn and sometimes I think she just wants to go to the movies for the popcorn.

The minute I put the car into drive after the movie b informs me she has to pee! We were at State and 33rd, silly daddy thought that driving home would be a matter of minutes. Obviously dad didn't pay attention driving there because we sat in traffic for 25 minutes!!! Just to get to the free way!!! They have 33rd all ripped up. Then minutes to get home. She made it the whole way! She does this time and time again on holding it in. We call her the champion pee holder. One day she'll take state!

He's not having a hard time, yeah right. He sits in this chair any chance he gets. In the morning he sits in it with his milk and yells at me "dad! blanket on me!!" and watches his cartoons. He is needing a lot more attention from his parents and is doing just about anything to get it. He loves his brother and is super sweet to him, he gets so concerned when Jonas is crying.

b is a good little mom for Jonas! She makes sure that he has all of this toys and that the blanket is covering him all the way. She is always kissing and hugging him and making sure he has everything she thinks he needs. She has been enjoying spending extra time with her cousins, lots of time with Peyton.

Jonas has been to his first doctors appointment and although it doesn't look like it he has gained weight. He is up to 5 lbs 12 oz.

Little One

That is the Sunday paper. Wrapped up Jonas is a little bigger but the news paper weighed more. His cry is so little, I sleep right through it. What wakes me up is T getting in and out of bed and turning the tv on at head hurting thirty in the morning. T's mom has been a great help. She helps T while I take Cody and we pass b off to who ever will take her.

They still love their bro and maul him any chance they get. Our mornings have changed a bit. Before, Cody would get up 6:30-7:30, ornery and demand milk and cartoons then thrash around in our bed until one of us is driven up and take him in the other room just so that we can hear him complain even more and attend to his every demand. With any luck b sleeps though this, if not she zombies onto our bed and thrashes around and then the two of them and the dog fight it out all morning until we get up. Cody is constantly yelling at us, "get up!"

That lasted one minute of morning one with Jonas home. Jonas is sleeping in a little bassinet (thanks Jen) next to our bed but T is still sore and in pain which doesn't blend well with the thrashing around. Now we are getting up with oscar the grouch in the morning to fulfill his every last request.

If you are really quiet you might be able to hear him cry.

Everyone has been great! We haven't had to cook a meal yet. We had to even cancel some meals, I didn't really want to because honestly you can never have too much food in the refrigerator.

Pop-eye impression

He is soo little and skinny we think that we are going to break him whenever we change his diapers or clothes.

Home

It's nice to be home although it was nice being at the hospital, no kids (most of the time), no cleaning, a cafeteria just downstairs so no cooking. I didn't get in nearly the reading I wanted to but I've got some time now, although back at home there's all the yard work, house choirs and kids.

My bed

Taryn's bed

The kids love their new little brother! They are all over him. Bryten is making sure he has his toys and that his blanket is covering him. She just looks at him and play with his hair and tickles his face. Cody always wants to hold him.

Jonas Lani

Finally picked a name! Jonas Lani.

Check out this sweet baby name website.

Name!

So we're about ready to leave the hospital we are still deciding on a name. We were able to narrow down the list once it popped out a boy and quickly went to five names, Jonas, Deeken, Carson, Chase and Landon. We have been cranking our minds in choosing a name and dwindling the list down. We crossed off Landon, then Deeken, then Carson. Now we are down to Chase Jones or Jonas Lani.

What to do what to do?

Baby News

Still no name for the new baby boy. Everyone is still doing great. B and cody met their new baby brother, B was kinda nervous and wasn't sure what to do. She kinda stayed away from him and her mom at first until we came back from the cafeteria, then she went up to her mom and told her that she liked her and then she walked up to her new brother and held his hand. Cody, he's telling everyone in the hall about his new baby brother, "new baby brother". He was way excited to hold him, he ran into the room and up to his mom, "hi mom, baby brother?" Then T asked him if he wanted to hold baby bro and that he had to sit down, he ran to the couch and sat right down. He was frozen holding his brother, I dont think that he has ever sat that still for that long. He just stared at his new baby bro. I think though that when we get home with the baby he won't be too happy that the new guy is getting all the attention and that momma has to stay in bed with him all day.

Everyone has been here and the new hospital rooms are much larger then LDS so everyone fits and has a place to sit. This is a nice change. The teevees are HD, I think that I might just have to buy a HD teevee now. We were talking about just not watching as much teevee when they changed it up in February but now we might just get a new teevee.

Back to the baby. Taryn started getting contractions about 10:30 but we just thought it was false labor because she has been having contractions for the past couple of nights and she wasn't due until June 10th. Around 11-11:30 the contractions got closer and harder, it never happens like in the movies, we weren't sure what to do, with Bryten it was four years ago and we went to the hospital really early and T was induced with Cody. I wasn't ready, the baby wasn't even suppose to come for another week, so I kept telling T that it was just false labor. She called the hospital around 12:45, they told her to drink water and wait until the contractions got closer. Just after 1am T had enough with the pain and I called Haeli, no answer, called Jeremy, no answer. Then Haeli called back and said "THIS better be important!" as we left she said "This better be REAL labor!"

I carried b over to Haeli's house, she woke up a little and I explained to her that she was going to Haeli's to sleep, the first thing she said was, "where's cody?" What a good big sister! Then this morning when she woke up Haeli asked b how she got here, b said "my daddy carried me without my shoes" then Haeli asked why she was at her house and b explained that her mom was going to have a baby and that it was going to be a boy.

We got to the hospital around 2am and she was dilated at a four. They called the on-call doctor who wasn't T's but T didn't care she just wanted the baby out. Next thing you know the baby came out at 5:30. All pretty quick especially when it wasn't suppose to be here until next week. I had things to do! And I'm just not sure I'm ready for the third one, we are now out numbered. It was kinda fun to not know what the baby's sex was. Seeing when it popped out and being able to tell T. I think she was hoping for a girl.

Bryten was 7 lbs 5 oz 21 inches long, Cody was 6 lbs 13 oz 19 inches long. So they're getting smaller. The doc thought that maybe the placenta was stuck on something during the pregnancy and couldn't grow any larger and that would explain why he's small.

This was a very nerve racking delivery for us. One of Taryn's cousins lost a baby just days before she was due a couple months ago and Marcee's sister-n-law's baby had heart problems. So we were pretty stressed out. We are very grateful for our healthy baby and our other healthy children.

Thanks to all of you for your support and care we really appreciate it!

And yes the computer is attached to my hip!

He has really long finger and toes and really big feet.

It's a Boy

At 5:30 this morning Taryn gave birth to a healthy baby boy. He weights 5 lbs 11 oz. and is 19 inch long. Both T and the new boy are doing good and I will post some pictures when I can.

Names

We have the hardest time picking a name for our kids. It wasn't until the doctors put needles to our heads before we decided on Bryten and Cody. We had some names picked out but just couldn't make that final decision. We're both bad a making decisions. Our weekends consist of this, "What do you want to do?, I don't know what do you want to do?" until its too late to do anything. Sometimes I'm supprised that we do or buy anything. So picking a name that our kids will have to live with for the rest of their lives is not an easy task for us.

Here is our list of names. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Yeah, I can dance!

Ok, really I can't dance but now we will be spending the summer watching 'So you think you can dance'. We all love it. I tried to get T to try out when they came to SL in February but she said she couldn't cause she was pregnant. What a lousy excuse. Of course Marcee's and Haeli's excuses were much worse. It is the only reality show that we watch, kinda. If I watch the first episode of one of those date shows, I'm hooked for the whole thing and I did waste most of Memorial day watching the 'Deadliest Catch'.

I miss the writers strike, we didn't have any teevee to watch, we watch way too much. I'm glad that the season is over. Here is our list of what we watch

Together we watch

Smallville
Scrubs
The Office
So You Think You Can Dance
Heroes

I also watch
SNL
Sunday Morning

and when I can
The Daily Show
The Colbert Report
Democracy Now
The Simpson's

and when I'm bored
Big and Rob
History Channel
Discovery Channel - Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch,
Miami/LA Ink
House

We won't even begin to list the shows that T watches.

Attack!

Yes! I won this game!

I have a few profiles around the various sites, Myspace, Facebook, Okurt and Friendster. I was pretty addicted to Myspace for a couple of months, constantly scouring over profiles and groups, then it just got old. Now I visit a couple times a week to check on friends and to see if I have any messages.

When my work blocked Myspace there was a mass exodus to Facebook because it was still accessible, so I joined along. Facebook was ok, not as interesting as Myspace was but then I found Attack! and now I am on Facebook at least three times a day. It's probably a good thing that they blocked Facebook at work also because I would probably play Attack! all day long. It's risk on the computer and you can play against friends in games that you take your turn whenever you are available or you can play live games against anyone else who is on Facebook and wanting to play Attack!. The live games are fun, they last up to 30 minutes and can be interesting. It took me some time before I won my first live game. My favorite is when people start smack talking each other and then they just make really dumb moves because they're to worried about calling some names about a computer game.
