Rose Park Festival

I'm a few weeks late on this. April 26th we held the fourth annual Rose Park Community Festival. It was a great success with an estimated 3,000 people moving in and out. The weather was sunny but a little too windy with a bit of a chill but still enjoyable. Entertainment was good, the belly dancers looked a little cold and the last singer was more then out of key.

The food this year wasn't as good as last year, only two choices this year three less from last, some incredible Thai food that was there last year and hopefully in the years to come along with hot dogs and hamburgers from Diamond Lils.

There was cotton candy and snow cones provided by the Southern Baptist. Around 20 or so non-profits providing information material. A couple of people selling stuff and a couple companies trying to find employees. T and Jen didn't sell any tutus but Marcee did sell a few hair barrettes.

Plenty of fun for the kids with crafts and games and a dunking booth. City Councilman Luke Garrett volunteered to be dunked and was more then once. The car show was a little less than steller with two hot rods but the motorcycle patrol showed off their sweet rides.

I was too busy with other things to take pictures but there are plenty on the Rose Park Festival website.

Rose Park Festival

The fourth annual Rose Park Community Festival is on April 26th, the last Saturday in April from 1 to 6. Everyone is welcomed to attend whether or not you live in Rose Park. We have open tables if you would like to sell something at the festival. Last year we had a couple thousand people walk through. This will be the fourth festival and we believe it will be the best, we're getting a better understanding of what is needed to attract people to the festival and get them to stay for a while.

There will be food for sale and entertainment. We have arts and crafts for the kids and a dunking booth. We thought about dunking our City Councilman but he is about four feet taller then the tank of water. We might have a car show and some dutch oven samples. There will be a lot of information on non-profits and hopefully some merchandise for sale.

Here is the Rose Park Festival website for more information.

Rose Park News is a blog with some good information on whats going on in Rose Park.

Fisher Mansion

The city bought the Fisher Mansion last year in hopes to use some of the property to expand the Jordan River Parkway. Mayor Becker held an open house last week to give residents an opportunity to voice what they would like done with the property. We took advantage of this opportunity and visited the house and left our two cents.

After walking through the house, running into neighbors and shaking hands with the Mayor we left our comments. Renovate the house back to it's original state and use it as, a reception center, museum, and/or a public art gallery.

They should turn the old carriage/garage house into a bike rental shop/refreshment store for those on the Jordan Parkway.

Cody enjoyed walking around the house. He's too slow going up the stairs.
